Genealogy 101

An Introduction to Genealogical Research | taught by Ashley Warren

Course description

This is an introductory course that covers the basics of genealogical research. You can work at your own pace, and use the provided worksheets and projects as many times as you’d like. Here are some things to keep in mind:

Genealogy is a process.

It takes a long time to do historical family research, so you may only find information on a handful of people. That’s OK! After this course, you’ll be well on your way to continuing the process.

You may not find all the answers you seek.

It’s easy to get frustrated when you’re not finding what you’re looking for, but I’ll give you some strategies for tackling these issues.

You may end up with more questions than answers.

Everything you discover may lead to new questions; it's easy to go down the rabbit hole. But that's part of the fun, so enjoy the ride and be open to change.
